About
the Herd
Feed the Herd Theatre Company was
formed in late 1997 as a group theatre and is currently fiscally sponsored by The Field. Donations are tax-deductible.
Driven by the mad reins of the needs to commune, to relate, to understand
historic theatrical conventions, and to evolve new forms, our risk-taking
ensemble (actors, directors, writers) creates social communication with
a collaborative experience between process, audience, and performance.
We have focused on reinterpreting classics, reacquainting with lesser-known
modern pieces, as well as fostering new plays that have come out of the
evolutionary company. Our mission this season is to define the dimensions
of perspective and how the medium of theatre can shift perspectives in
character, story, and point-of-view. The actors take risks with mind,
body, and soul to create characters that speak directly with the audience.
In performance we hope to plug into an umbilical cord of truth, and to
feed ideas, to create an enriching experience our community and we haven't
yet harnessed. We acknowledge that the world may not be what it seems,
especially in the moments of confusion we have all witnessed since September
11, 2001. In the Herd brand of theatre, nothing needs be what it seems.
It seems to be what it needs.
Hungry. Altruistic. Nomad. Adventure. Eclectic. Unity. Evolutionary. American.
Zeitgeist. Passion. Donnybrook. Now. Make-do. Thunder. Push. Gathering.
Dynamic. Feed the Herd.
